Player Success Stories

“The most important skill I learned was how to have the mindset of a winning player.”

Alex Holleran

“Working with Corey has completely shifted my mindset on the mound. He’s helped me learn to listen to my body so I can quickly adjust my mechanics and not overthink or stress about the outcome. He wants his players to dominate and reach the next level.”

Alex Holleran is a sophomore at Cienega High School and has a goal of advancing to the next level and playing for as long as possible. When I met Alex, it was clear he had a strong understanding of the game. Initially focused on improving his velocity, we quickly realized that a simple throwing program wouldn’t be enough. Alex’s high baseball IQ sets him apart from most high school players, and he uses it effectively on the field. Through our training, it became clear his greatest strength is the mental side—answering questions like, “How do I recover?” and “What do I need to change?” From working with Alex, his best attribute as a player is knowing how and when to make adjustments, which is key to being a great ballplayer.

Jack Murphy

“I aim to contribute to a winning culture on my team while being the best teammate I can be. Corey taught me how to warm up including the skills to train my arm, but the most important skill I learned was how to have the mindset of a winning baseball player. My biggest takeaway from him has been hard work and steady determination will take you farther than anything else will. Your mindset is important when trying to develop any skill.”

Jack Murphy attended Blue Valley High School from 2017-2021. During that time, he attended Tom Urqharts School of Baseball as a pitcher. Jack had always dreamed about attending college to play baseball. One day he decided to get serious about it and that’s when we started working together. Jack quickly adjusted and showed a strong work ethic during his time with me. In just 4 months, he went from throwing 68 mph to 81 mph. This jump and the work he put in to becoming a relief pitcher earned him the opportunity to play college baseball. He was recruited by Allegany College of Maryland and later transferred to Division 2 school Dave and Elkins College where he plays to this day.

Ben Waliczek

“I want to eventually play professionally. Coach Corey helped me develop my mind about what it takes to be a good baseball player. My takeaways from Corey are you need to work hard for what you want to get, love the sport you are playing, and play every game like it’s your last.”

Ben Waliczek attended Wichita East High School from 2017-2021. Ben and I spent time throwing or hitting ground balls and hitting on the field. Eventually, we were working on baseball every day and doing workouts together. We learned how to field, foot work, and the mental side of the game. Ben was the first player that led me to realizing I wanted to coach and train. He signed with Pratt Community College in 2021, another alma mater of mine, and at this moment is hitting an insane .427 with 26 SB in his sophomore year. He is committed to playing Division 1 Ball at Indiana State University.

Isaac Menchaca

“My goal is to someday play D1 baseball. I’ve been training with Corey on pitching and outfield velocity. My biggest takeaway has been how to use my legs effectively to get more velocity. He’s helped me to be more confident. Confidence is key.”

Isaac, a sophomore at Cienega High School, is a Utility player with emphasis on outfield. I met Isaac on the Tucson Champs Academy 15u team. Isaac always had fun, but the competition we were playing inspired him to take his play to the next level. When Isaac came to me for lessons, it was originally for outfield work. We soon developed an Arm Throwing Program in which Isaac has jumped up 20 MPH in the time we have been working together. He now has trained in 1st base, Catching and most recently, Pitching. Isaac continues to show what hard work and perseverance can do during training on and off the field.
